Okay wait... I need Fricsay's nozze -- it's actually the best... by far;
his accompaniment is also out of this world... Prey's Figaro is
horrible...
so:
Idomeneo: Gardiner
Serail: Beecham
nozze: Fricsay (and I'll keep Suitner, cause it's beautiful)
DG: Klemperer (and I'll keep Furtwängler (Orfeo + Warner - Siepi),
Krips, Mitropoulos, cause they are beautiful)
cosi: Böhm (Decca + Warner)
Zauberflöte: Klemperer (and I'll keep Bergman, cause it's beautiful)
I think I'll ditch Östman's Mozart recordings... the thing is... they
don't really hold up against the competition, while interestingly
Gardiner's Idomeneo does - probably because it hasn't been recorded as
often and if not treated justly until more recently ---- I should
probably revisit Pritchard's, but afair there were problems with the
singing and also accompaniment... Gardiner also has more texture than
Östman generally...
