The illustration: a 40sec section from near the beginning of Hanson's
4th Symphony - from the identical LP (Mercury Golden Imports SRI
75107)...clearly showing how RUINOUS Andrew Rose's '32 bit, XR, et al'
'Absolutely Fabulous' transfers are compared to the 'source material'.

The transfer-level, amazingly, is effectively identical; but Rose's
has lost all detail/dynamics - just a smothered, 'processed noise'.
No doubt some of you 'Pristine Groupie' MUGWUMPS were eager to pay for
this UTTER TRAVESTY.

14MB Stereo WAV file: http://www.mediafire.com/?f24efhusaq21uu2
My transfer - followed by 'The World's Greatest Re-Masterer' - his MP3
sample (PASC292) converted to WAV and inserted into my edited WAV file
(Yuck!).

The four symphonies are @ http://pristineclassics.blogspot.com

BTW: I want (to buy) a Stanton D98S or CS100 stylus assembly - as mine
was recently damaged: worn/undamaged will suffice - for re-tipping.

Please, don't call me fool...
You're lying, I just download Mr.Rose transfers excerpt and open with
Sound Forge and saw (and heard) what is common in his transfers. The
sample has a -3.1dB peak and a -22.5 dB RMS. Even, if you rise the
peak level to 0, the RMS would be -19.5dB wich is still aceptable. In
the other hand your transfer suffer a great unbalanced left channel,
posible a phase problem, heard it with headphones and you will notice.
I know that this group could be called "Hate Mr.Rose Club", but a
minor grade of honesty will be apreciated.

P.D: why don't you buy a new stylus for your CS100 or just change the
cartridge?

I could reasonably call you 'A Fool' (not to mention a Liar and an
Idiot) as that was an exact/unaltered dubbing - using a Decca Gold
cartridge.

The "great unbalanced left channel, possible a phase problem"
illustrates you are unaware that the SRI is an Electronic Stereo: not
MY doing.

Maybe you would like to 'explain' to any other 'Fools' how it is that
all the inherent fine-detail has 'magically' disappeared from Rose's
transfer: or are you too deaf to hear that?

As to transfer-levels: in fact, his is slightly louder (my dubbing is
based on reaching 0dB for the Piston 3rd) - and anyone with an
Audacity editor, etc, can see for himself the relative levels.

You are (yet another) of those 'Re-Masterers' who are In Love with
technology: but are happy to RUIN 'original' recordings (or Fake them
almost beyond recognition).

PS: it also must be News to you that the Stanton Styli mentioned have
not been available for some years: they (and the cartridges) are
superior to most of what is currently available (not to mention
virtually anything used by other 'Re-Masterers' - Free or otherwise).

I would suggest that I am easily about the most Honest/non-
Bullshitting 'contributor' hereabouts: and simply state the FACTS.

As a matter of fact - all 4 transfers were saved by Audacity @ a
ridiculously overloaded level (never happened before) - so they are
now deleted - as is the 'test'.
Will re-upload from newly edited files some time later.

As there were a few more downloads of the 'Test' than I usually get
via this joint - here's a replacement file from an unedited 'rip'..

http://www.mediafire.com/?6z5mgtz1q7dh751

The other fault - common to all the files - was caused by my
increasing the volume on the Audacity editor by no less than 13dB (to
make editing easier on the Laptop) - without realising the 'save',
itself, would be increased by that amount... Now I Know...

If anyone (ie about 500...) want the files then they will need to wait
until I've some (more) time to waste.

The ambient stereo created with K-Stereo (or if you have no money
SHEPPi) has nothing to do with the shit you created with this piece of
crap called Audacity, please use professional software to obtain
professional results.

I've removed your Blog from my list of 'recommended' blogs': kindly do
the same.
I included yours, as a Courtesy, some 2years ago; despite the
transfers looking like stuff from a Shanty-Town Flea-Market: mp3 to
boot.

As to my transfers being 'shit' - they are EAC rips - inputted into
Audacity - manually de-clicked: the resultant WAV (+ FLAC) file/s
being quite indistinguishable from the CD-RW: itself near identical
(latterly even more so) compared to the LP.

I can easily afford the finest equipment: but you are Proof Positive
that there's little point in Casting Pearls Before Swine.

I will not remove your blog from mine because I still think you do a
good job, but let me tell you that actually my blog is Lossless, FLAC
files are presented in 16 bits/44.100 but first were recorded in 24
bits/96 khz and processed in 32 bits in Izotope Advanced RX 2, then
they were converted using MBIT facilities.

As stated: I do not wish my Blog(s) to appear on your listing.

In all probability, & assuming I re-edit the Hanson's (a very easy
job: but increasing Audacity's 'volume', unfortunately, in the event,
made it much easier to identify the very minutest defects), there will
be no more transfers: it's so much easier to leave it to those
creating 'pale shadows' of LP's - or feeding CD's into a computer.

I'm aware that you now upload FLAC's: previously, due to the cost, you
didn't:

If Messrs Pristine's efforts weren't, based on the 'samples', so
clearly inferior (irrespective of all the 'applied technology') to the
originating (LP) source I'd never comment adversely - other than
(having previously) correcting the numerous 'factual errors'.

I'm reminded of the time, many years ago, when Ray Hall suddenly stopped
thinking of me as a cobber and decided instead that I was a whacker, he still
maintained a link on his website to mine, at least until I pointed this fact
out to him a few weeks later.

Here's the Hanson 4: @ http://themusicparlour.blogspot.com

....to compare with the 'sample' kindly supplied by Mr Magic & His
Pureed Toons.
(PASC292 link) @

Notice how the kindly Gent has removed all those nasty 'studio
noises' (not to mention a goodly chunk of the musical information)...

Harris's 3rd (previously uploaded 2years back - then, perforce, in 3
parts: nevertheless still rather popular) now (re)available: the
remainder following 'soon'.

Everythings now 'up' @ http://themusicparlour.blogspot.com

Especially recommendable for 'creaky-chair' aficionados (as opposed to
'No Chairs Around Here' Rose).

Enjoy.....LOL
