A wonderful surprise. In great sound from the master tapes the 16 Sept 1989 recital of Tatyana Nikolayeva has been just released.

A pleasant surprise indeed. I saw her play the complete Shostakovich Preludes and Fugues in N.Y.C. for the last time.

If you want to hear how she plays the above, and how she looks when she plays them, I uploaded a video of her in Moscow in 1990



Of course the sound in that video would be inferior to any professional audio recording. Gosteleradiofond always attach some crummy mono recording to their videos. Also the video doesn't include the larger pieces that the CD does. The Ravel is very good.
